WINTER SWIM CLUB 2023/24

The 2023/24 WINTER SWIM SEASON is nearly upon us and we are gearing up ready to welcome existing members and new faces to CHILLI SWIM CLUB.

As we enter the last few weeks of SUMMER SWIMMING we turn our attention to the WINTER SWIM CLUB and felt it might be useful to write this article to outline how this works…
We have successfully run a WINTER SWIM CLUB for a number of years, in fact, we were one of the first outdoor swimming venues in the UK to offer this option.
It is well documented elsewhere the benefits that swimming in colder water may provide, from both a physical and mental health point of view.

ACTIVITIES AWAY will be running the usual CHILLI SWIM CLUB from mid October through to the end of April 2024 (this is different to previous years).
We have had to crunch the numbers particularly hard this year as the WINTER SWIM CLUB costs a lot to run due to increases in running costs in the colder months.
The only way we can run CHILLI SWIM successfully is if we run it as a ‘standalone club’ totally separate to the SUMMER SWIM SESSIONS.
Therefore, please remember that ALL SUMMER SWIM CREDITS expire after the last SUMMER SWIM SESSION on SUNDAY 1st OCTOBER 2023 and have no transfer or refund value.
Left over credits from the SUMMER SWIM SESSIONS cannot be used to pay for CHILLI SWIM SESSIONS and any left over credits from the WINTER SWIM CLUB cannot be transferred to SUMMER CREDITS.
You are joining a WINTER SWIM CLUB a bit like joining a GYM - you pay your membership and buy your swim sessions and ‘use them or lose them’.
If you are interested in joining our WINTER SWIM SESSIONS then please note -
They will be running on a SUNDAY MORNING between 9.30 am and 11.30 am
We will not be open any other day as we have to manage running costs.
All members will need to have completed one of our IN HOUSE INDUCTION SESSIONS* before booking.
* The in house induction has to be completed once, so if you have done it previously it is still valid.
Only the SMALL LOOP is open for WINTER SWIM SESSIONS.
The CAFE will be open every week for hot drinks and our popular breakfast menu
All swims need to be pre-purchased as a package and need to be used by 1st MAY 2024
Unused WINTER SWIM CREDIT has no refund value and cannot be transferred to SUMMER SWIM 2024
CHILLI SWIM SESSIONS will run on the following dates for the 2023/24 WINTER SWIM SEASON all WINTER SWIM CREDIT is to be purchased through the booking app and all sessions pre booked via the app in the usual way.
ALL MEMBERS MUST COMPLETE A WINTER SWIM MEMBERSHIP FORM via THE LINK ON THE WEBSITE HOMEPAGE or by clicking here - WINTER SWIM CLUB MEMBERSHIP FORM before attending for a swim or INDUCTION SESSION.
Failure to complete the membership form will lead to significant delays on the day as we have limited access for you to complete this on site and poor phone service means you will struggle to do it using your phone.
Before you decide to ‘take the plunge’ into a WINTER SWIMMING SEASON consider if you can -
A - Make the advertised dates for an induction if you need one - you can’t swim at our facility if you haven’t completed our ‘in house’ induction.
B - Make sure you have completed the MEMBERSHIP FORM via this link WINTER SWIMMING MEMBERSHIP FORM
C - Make sure you have purchased EITHER an INDUCTION PACKAGE or SOME SWIM CREDIT before trying to make a booking for either on the app - if you haven’t purchased the credit first you WILL NOT BE BOOKED ONTO THE SESSION.
D - If you have already completed our ‘IN HOUSE INDUCTION’ then you are ready to swim - simply BUY CREDIT - BOOK A SWIM - TURN UP ON THE DAY
INDUCTION SESSIONS cost £35 and last for 1.5 hours and include lots of information on starting your cold water swimming journey with solid safety advice, top tips and handy hints and a supervised acclimatisation swim.
It is possible to just join us for the INDUCTION SESSION and not purchase a WINTER SWIM PACKAGE unless you wish to continue swimming at the lake during the winter season.
These will be running on the following dates and must be pre purchased and booked through the BOOKING APP -

SWIM PACKAGES are available to buy via the app and will cost -
£185 - POLAR BEAR SEASON PASS covers you for every swim session.
£120 - WALRUS PACKAGE covers you for 15 swim sessions
£ 85 - PENGUIN PACKAGE covers you for 10 swim sessions
£ 50 - SEAL PACKAGE covers you for 5 swim sessions
£ 35 - PUFFIN PACKAGE covers you for 3 swim sessions
Sorry! We do not offer a 'Pay as you GO' option and we do not have SINGLE SWIMS available you are joining a COLD WATER SWIMMING CLUB a bit like joining a gym.
All COLD WATER swimming sessions are on SUNDAY MORNINGS (except the Boxing Day and New Years Day dips) and the water is open from 09.30 am to 11.30 am -
