WINTER SWIMMING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Winter Swimming Terms and Conditions
Season: 2026–27
Facility: ACTIVITIES AWAY
Last updated: 01/09/2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you book or attend a winter swimming session at ACTIVITIES AWAY.
By booking or attending, you agree to follow them, along with any signs, booking information and safety instructions at the facility.
Please read them before booking. If you have questions, contact office@activitiesaway.uk or speak to the DUTY MANAGER on site.
2. Winter season and sessions
The 2026–27 winter season opens at 10:00 am on Sunday 18 October 2026. Access to the water closes at 12 noon.
After opening day, winter swimming sessions run on Sunday mornings from 10:00 am to 12 noon, subject to availability and any changes or cancellations we announce up to and including Sunday 25th April 2027.
All sessions must be booked in advance through the Fit by Wix booking app. You may only swim during the session you have booked. Follow the arrival, check-in and exit arrangements shown in the app or given by our team.
3. Induction for winter swimmers
All swimmers must complete our in-house cold water swimming induction before booking a standard winter swim session UNLESS they have previously completed our IN HOUSE INDUCTION.
The induction is a safety requirement. You only need to complete it once during your membership lifetime. It remains valid in later years while you remain a member, unless we tell you that you need to repeat it for safety reasons.
Induction dates are listed in Fit by Wix. New members must book an induction before buying credits or booking a standard session. After you successfully complete the induction, you may buy credits and book standard winter sessions.
We offer new members a discount after they successfully complete their induction. The discount amount and how to claim it will be shown in Fit by Wix or explained by us.
Completing the induction means you are cleared to buy credits and book winter sessions. It does not mean that swimming is risk-free or that you are medically fit to swim.
4. Health and the risks of cold water swimming
Cold water swimming carries risks, including cold water shock, difficulty breathing, loss of strength or coordination, hypothermia, illness, injury and drowning. Conditions can change, and cold water can affect people differently.
You are responsible for deciding whether it is safe for you to swim. If you have a health condition, are unsure whether cold water swimming is suitable for you, or plan to take part over a full winter season, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional before swimming.
Do not swim if you feel unwell, are affected by alcohol or drugs, or believe you may be unable to swim safely. Tell our safety team about any relevant health or wellbeing concern before entering the water.
You take part voluntarily and at your own risk. This does not remove or limit any legal responsibility that we cannot exclude, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other rights you have under consumer law.
5. Safety instructions and behaviour
Our safety team’s decisions about whether, when and how you may swim are final for that session. You must follow their instructions promptly, as well as all signs and facility rules. We may refuse entry to, or ask to leave, anyone whose behaviour or condition creates a safety concern.
For your safety and the safety of others:
Enter and leave the water only where and as directed. Do not jump or dive in.
Stay within the permitted swimming area and follow any limits set for that session.
Leave the water promptly when asked, or when water access closes at 12 noon.
Do not swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Do not push, dunk, obstruct or deliberately put another person at risk.
Tell the safety team immediately if you or another swimmer is in difficulty.
Do not enter the water to attempt a rescue unless the safety team directs you to do so.
Follow any other safety instructions given on the day.
If you do not follow instructions or these terms, we may end your session, suspend your access or cancel your membership. If we cancel your membership for a serious or repeated breach, you will not receive a refund for unused credits or sessions, subject to your statutory rights.
6. Bookings, credits and refunds
Sessions and purchased credits are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law or we cancel a session and decide to provide a refund or credit.
Credits:
are for your use only and cannot be transferred to another person;
cannot be used to book a session for another person; and
cannot be used for summer swimming sessions in 2027 or later.
Check the session details and your availability before booking. If you cannot attend, follow any cancellation process and deadlines shown in Fit by Wix. A missed session or late cancellation does not entitle you to a refund or replacement credit, unless required by law or we decide otherwise.
If we cancel or change a session, we will notify affected swimmers through Fit by Wix or the contact details they provided. Any refund, replacement credit or other remedy will be handled in line with the law and the information provided when you booked.
7. Access and facility rules
Only booked swimmers may enter the water. Do not bring guests into the swimming area unless we have agreed this in advance. Children or other non-swimmers may attend site as spectators only if we have expressly permitted it and they follow our supervision rules. All children must be fully supervised by a responsible adult who is not swimming at all times.
Use the changing, parking and other facilities responsibly. Keep valuables secure; we are not responsible for loss or damage except where the law makes us responsible. Report hazards, damage or incidents to the safety team.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future bookings. The version that applies to your booking will be available through Fit by Wix or from us. We may also make reasonable changes to session arrangements for safety, operational or weather-related reasons and will notify affected swimmers where practical.
9. Your legal rights
Nothing in these terms takes away rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. In particular, we do not exclude or restrict our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any consumer rights that apply to the service.
